The Atlas Athlete Camera Backpack is easily the most versatile camera pack on the market. An award winning camera backpack so you can daypack in comfort. Available in available in three colorways, two frame height and with a custom sized proper hiking hip belt. The newly updated Atlas Athlete Pack is designed with amazing access, organization and expansion. Easily carry up to 40 liters of total gear including up to 30 liters for non-camera, with a world-class harness and suspension system for excellent weight distribution and all day comfort.
The Athlete Pack for Gear Setups
Remember when mirrorless meant small and light, well those days are long gone… New for 2022, the Athlete Pack is still the shallowest camera core on the market but just a smidge deeper than prior models. Please choose pack size based on torso length and hip belt based on the fitting guide below.
WHAT FEATURES ARE DIFFERENT BETWEEN SIZES?
Athlete Medium – No Pass Through Zipper
For 2022 the Athlete Pack in medium still does not have the pass-through zipper between the camera and camping. Sorry, but just not enough room above the ATLAS logo.
Athlete Large – Pass Through Zipper
Only the large size Athlete Pack has the pass-through zipper between the camera and camping sections of the pack.
SINGLE FOLD ORIGAMI
The Athlete Pack includes our single-fold Origami Camera Core (TM) that shifts approx. 3 liters of space between the front and back of the pack.
DEEPER CORE CORE
The depth of the Origami Camera Core (TM) has increased by 2cm. This still means the Athlete Pack is super shallow.
IMPROVED BLADDER STORAGE
A new top access (on the inside of the pack) allows for access to the water bladder chamber in addition to zipper access from the side.
NEW COLORWAYS
The 2022 Athlete Pack is available in a total of three colorways. A new gray-gray colorway in additional to the prior black and yellow colorways with small updates.
SLEEPING BAG LOOPS
A new set of sleeping bag loops is sewn-in to the bottom of the pack. A set of new sleeping bag loops is also sewn-in to the new 2022 hip belts. These loops are for GEN1 pack customers looking that wan to upgrade their packs via a firmware updated.
THICKER 10MM DIVIDERS
Easily the best dividers on the market. Designed to spoon your camera gear and distribute the weight.
NEW DIVIDERS SIZES
The standard set of dividers now includes a new mid-lens size and there is an optional full-length divider. Great for big glass like the 200-600.
OVERSIZED GRAB BAG TOP HANDLE
A big update to the Athlete Pack is the new bigger style grab bag handle. In addition to making the pack much easier to grab, the heat shrink on the outside can be reheated and repaired. Over time you will find it may get some scratch or even gouges that can be smoothed out with a little flame!
REAR ACCESS CAMERA CORE
The Athlete Pack is a rear-access camera bag. Incredibly safe and secure. For 2022 we ve updated the pullers to the latest and greatest from YKK.
40 LITERS STUFF SACK SHELL
Tucked under all the wrinkles is a 40 liters 210D Double Rip Stock Weatherproof Shell. The top of the Athlete Pack includes a cinch sack top with draw-string closure.
REMOVABLE FRAME
Removing the frame allows for an even smaller setup should you need. Especially helpful if you need to squeeze your pack in to a tight area.

FITTING BASED ON HEIGHT
+ If you are 5’8 1.7m or below, the medium size pack typically fits best.
+ If you are taller than 5’11 1.8m, the large size pack typically fits best.
TORSO LENGTH
Torso length provides the most accurate measurement for backpack fitting.
+ If your torso length is shorter than 18 45.5cm, the medium size pack typically fits best.
+ If your torso length is longer than 18 45.5cm, the large size pack typically fits best.
HOW TO MEASURE
- 1. Cut a piece of string 18 45.5cm.

- 2. Hold the top of the string on your C7 vertebrae and drop the bottom end.

- 3. Now feel all the way down to where string ends. It will fall either above or below your Iliac Center (essentially your love handles and where you rest your hands when you are putting your hands on your hips).

If the string goes past your love handles, that means your torso is shorter than 18 = medium size pack.
If the string ends before your love handles, that means your torso longer than 18 = large size pack.
CHOOSING YOUR HIP BELT
A custom fit hip belt is included with purchase. Be sure to checkout the sizes and styles available when added to the cart. All hip belts fit all packs. The Adventure belt just offers more padding and support than the others.
